Ive that done as my 4th course after commerce with chinese, commerce with germand and just commerce so who knows I might be in your course if you do it.

From what I've gathered its a mixture of the two courses, you spend the 3rd year abroad learning the language either working or at a foreign college (for spanish the countries are spain and mexico),
http://www.ucc.ie/calendar//commerce/com003.html this is a link to the modules of the course which I find very handy because it gives you all the info on what you'll be learning.

My neighbour did commerce with Spanish and absolutely loved it, especially the Spanish side of it, which was a relief because having not studied Spanish in secondary school she wasn't sure what to expect. But I would warn anyone thinking of doing any language in college that it can be seriously challenging and takes a lot of commitment!! It'll give you a great edge to have a language though, so all the best!

ADDITIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (These count towards satisfying minimum entry requirements)

Higher C1 in any one of:

    - French
    - German
    - Gaeilge
    - Italian
    - Spanish
    - Latin
    - Greek

Does anyone know what the actual minimum requirement is for the language? Qualifax and the courses webpage have different ones..:confused:

You have to get a HC1 in either Spanish or another modern language

In first year it is split in two between beginners and non beginners Spanish, depending on whether or not you studied Spanish at LC level

In second year these groups are merged and the course is the same for everyone
