    Hi

We're (couple) looking at spending a week at beach near San Diego / LA doing bit of surfing and chilling.

Anyone suggestions for hotels/ guesthouses that aren't 300 euro a night!

    Tks!

If you're spending a week, why not rent a house? I spent a week in La Jolla last year and rented the most beautiful house. all hotels there were super expensive and the house we rented was gorgeous and bikes and boogie boards came with the house so we were laughing!

This was the company we used - very strict but it all went without a hitch.

I want to live in La Jolla!

    Hi

    I like that idea!

What was the name of the company you used? Had a quick look at the houses/ condos start at about 1000 us a week which is cheaper than the hotel option.

    Thanks!

Yea cheers, looking at couple of nice places. That La Jolla area seems nice part of San Diego. And the university has some nice condos with pool.

U reckon on hiring a car to see the zoo, beach, shops etc? G/f wants to go to shopping mall so probably need a blooming Hiace..

Did you guys eat out/ cook at home?

If you're planning on travelling around I would rent a car. We didn't bother because we had been road tripping for two weeks so we just cycled from the house to the beach to the supermarket etc and got cabs when we went out at night.. I ventured into the city once to shop :) so took a bus but that was it.

We ate out a few nights (Georges in La Jolla rocks!) and cooked bbq's and got take aways some nights too...

If you're looking for somewhere to shop there's a large outlet mall a couple of miles south of San Diego right on the Mexican border (the back wall of the complex is actually the border). You can't miss it. If you decide to go into Mexico while you're there make sure you've arranged extra Mexico insurance cover with the car hire company.
