What kind of HF antenna are we talking about?

10 or 12 element periodic and rotator.

there are probably a fair few "ex" esb poles lying around in esb and other yards, after all the network upgrades they have been doing in recent years. probably no harm to find and ask an esb linesman, I'm sure they would help or at least know where to find some. A local contractor I know with a few JCB's did contract work for them, and I think he may have had some in the yard. A contractor would also be the person to ask for putting the things up, since they usually have the pole grabber attachment for the JCB..

Do you perhaps mean a Log Periodic antenna?

    What frequency coverage?

    Ok.

Did you give up on a directional antenna altogether in the end? They can be quite large depending on frequency.

One day I'd love to have a HF log periodic aloft but this'll have to wait quite some time. Have to stick it out with the good old wire dipole(s) for the foreseeable future:D
