Hi, I have a Vox AC30/6 from the sixties. Does anyone know a good amp repair guy? I've had no luck getting anyone in Ireland to fix this amp and would love to get it back up and running. Can anyone suggest a good repair guy to me?

Nothing personal about this particular repair guy.

    In general though:

Get a quote first. In writing if possible.
Try the repair out before you pay.

I'd go in and ask the guys in Musician if they could recommend anyone.

I would highly recommend this guy. He does a brilliant job, sound bloke and as i recall he had a few ac30's in his workshop last time I was out there so he has experience with em.

    also here's his website.

John Truba in Tralee. He's a genius with old valve gear. Used to work for WEM I believe. He takes stuff thru Crowleys Music in Cork or you can get him at 066 7138215

    Absolute gent and really cheap..

just gonna add another recommendation for martin nolan, he is absolutely excellent, and especially cause he has a huge interest rather than just doing repairs, i brought him a marshall A240 of mine and not only did he fix it in one day, he took a look it at it's wiring just to gain experience for future reference, and asked me about a good few modifications he could do to make it sound better for free, a really nice guy

Ive been to sthis tore. He can fix anything! I brought in a fender twin valve amp to him. It was looking grim for the amp but he brought it back to life. I also bought a nolan bass head off him 8 years back, its never failed me yet!

This is the only man for me and I drive all the way from Lahinch in Co.Clare to get to him. He worked also for WEM and inside submarines, and is a genius at military spec electronics (like valve amps) which is his specialty. His name is Jim Burke, and his helper is Seamus, the number is 043 3321304. Workshop is in Lanesboro, Co.Roscommon, right beside the bridge over the Shannon. I fully recommend him. Value and quality, not something a lot of repairmen combine. Quentin.

An old Post 2009 linked to this refers,

"Martin Nolan in Beaumont repairs all valve amps including old AC 30's. His no. is 01 8316168. He has a great reputation. "
