My windows keep disappearing behind the start icon...

I am a N00b. I have no preveious experience in posting except on a local music forum, so please bear with me... Ok, so Il spare you the details. I bought this laptop in January, A Sony Vaio VGN-AR61ZU (http://vaio.sony.ie/view/ShowProduct.action?product=VGN-AR61ZU&site=voe_en_IE_cons&pageType=Overview&category=VN+AR+Series), and from very early on it's been giving me problems. Well, one problem.

Randomly, whether I'm in the middle of making a movie or simply using the laptop to play music, the windows kind of.. split and move behind the start icon. Which makes it impossible to get the start menu up, and very difficult to alternate between windows.

I realise this is obviously quite a serious problem and I'll most likely have to bring it back, but I have no idea what I'm talking about, and if I do bring it back, somebody will try and tell me there's nothing wrong with it (just because it's not happening at that exact moment... oh and the fact that I'm a girl of course). So basically I'm looking for someone to teach me some impressive terminology as to what is wrong with my laptop, or provide me with any further instructions as to how I could stop this from happening? I'd be very grateful.

When this happens you can fix it fairly easily,

    Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete

    Then go into "Task Manager"

In there you will see a tab called "Windows"

And there is a list of options there,

    Such as cascade, tile horizontally....

Try a few of them to fix the layout of all your windows.

Its highly unlikely that this is an issue that requires you to get a replacement laptop.
