Putting my MBP up for sale and want to really know how much you think its worth before i price it.
Know you guys will probably know best.

Got it early 2007 for college and i think it has actually been in there about 20 times. It's way too powerful for me, don't know why i never thought of getting rid of it sooner. This college year i have used it for a few reports <60 hours and for the internet a little. It sits there the rest of the time. Theres not a mark on it as its been in its neoprene case since day one.

    Heres the Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) 2.33 GHz
    160GB 5400-rpm Hard Drive
    2GB RAM
    Slot Loaded Superdrive etc
17" Model with normal (non glossy) display
    Battery Charge cycle count 140

    Software installed:

    OSX Leopard 10.5.2
    iwork 08
    Logic Pro
    Photoshop CS

It was the top of the range model at the time and cost €2829.81c.
I also bought the Applecare protection plan for €479 and its covered for just under another two years with that.

    In total the machine cost me €2829.81 + €479 = €3308.81

I spent a whole summer working to save for this so please don't be brutal giving me a price. Break it to me gently its the most expensive one item i have ever bought in my life.

I'm thinking €2000 is a fair price? What do you think?

    Thanks for your help.

do you have licenses for the software?

TBH you can buy a refurb for about 1800 with the same specs.

I'd say getting 1800 would be realistic. But then again the applecare may entice some people.

Your perfectly right it never even occured to me to check into Apple's pricing on the second hand ones.

Exactly the same model is €1899 refurbished with one years limited warranty with apple. Ya not think its worth €2000 for it with the extra 2 years piece of mind?

And i have licenses for the software but would prefer to keep some of it to be honest.
Its all preinstalled on the machine anyway.

Anybody else have an opinion on price? Is €1900 - €2000 about fair?

If you put it somewhere for sale to people ignorant to current sale prices you'll prolly get €1800. Barely used or not, it's still second hand.

Fair point where would you suggest would be the best place to sell?

I usually use adverts but have never used it for a product this big. I know i might be lucky enough to find a mac enthusiast on Adverts that needs a Macbook pro but
from experience adverts is generally has a fair few that want a high priced item and offer an insultingly low amount for a quality product. Now thats not all the time but once or twice.

Buy&Sell buyers wouldn't know enough about it in such a short add and would be wondering what justifies €1800/€1900.

    Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the input by the way its helping, keep it coming ........

Wouldn't be in too much of a hurry on eBay - similar machine sold for less than €1200

It may be a little on the high side when you consider its second hand, and you can get the APP a lot cheaper on eBay. I'm looking at it from someone who could buy a 15" brand new for the same money, but thats probably just me.
I've sold a laptop on Buy & Sell before, abbreviating the usual terms - you'll fit it into 25 words ok - If someone is looking for one, they will know what its about. People just browsing won't bother when they see the price. Put it this way - the price is right on B&S or adverts.

No App, plus VAT plus shipping, no photo of the actual machine either. not that I'd buy from eBay anyway. By the time that gets to Ireland you may be too late to even register for an APP

Have a look at Mac2Sell.net, it'll give you an idea of what to realistically expect. But go with what the market will pay ;)

    <snip>
Doesn't seem to anybody with any interest in it. It's a genuine offer for the right person. It's boxed in mint condition. With just under 2 years applecare left on it.

So if any of you mac fans know anyone who wants a new machine at less than half price i would appreciate it if you passed them on the Link

    Thanks a million

Ye no problem, i did start here though by asking the forum to help price it for me though so in a way i'm just finishing the thread.

I didn't think i was breaking any rules telling people it was there.

Wont say another word about it.

I missed this as i've been suffering from food poisoning and offline all evening. If I had spotted this earlier I might not have been as lenient as babypink. Keep adverts to adverts, read the rules please, and thanks to everyone who reported this.
