    Hi,

I am about to purchase an xps 1530. However it comes with windows vista which is a problem since it does not support opengl and i do some graphics programming using opengl.

I am wondering if I can, when i receive my xps, if i can format the c drive, partition it and run vista one partition and windows xp(which fully supports opengl) on the other partition.

Also, there is a biometric finger reader on the xps 1530 system. Is the software for this reader kept in the hardware of the system or is it in vista. I.e. does the system require you to swipe your finger over the reader during boot up, or when just about to access the vista Operating system?

    Cheers,

    Dan.

Yes you would be able to dual boot.
I have not done it my self on this model but on many others.
Just remember to install windows XP first and then Vista afterwards.

As with the swipe, that will be a driver you can obtain from the dell website. The swipe only comes into play once the O/s has loaded and you are at the logon prompt (well this is how a sony one worked which i have used!)

Do your homework (google it) on the MD3 (media direct) partition/button before doing any repartitioning etc.
