    Hi

I'm looking to surprise someone with a trip to London in the summer and have never been.

Can someone recommend an area to stay in or (even better) a good, semi-reasonable hotel with good transport links?

Looking to hit a few museums/tourist traps etc

    Thanks! :)

There is an IBIS near Euston Station which is reasonable and a handy location.

It's near a tube station and a 15 minute walk to Picadilly Circus also.

just back this morning from a few days in london and stayed at the crestfield hotel http://www.crestfieldhotel.co.uk/ its right next to kings cross/st pancras station so transport links/underground and bus services are on your doorstep. its reasonably priced i paid £60 for two people ensuite. Room was small but any room under £300 in london is going to be small. The area is really quiet as its on a backstreet away from the railway station so no traffic noise either.

all tourist sites are within easy reach of kings cross via the underground

South Kensington area, best area in London imo, plenty of restaurants and cafes, hotels nearby, really beautiful area, very close to Knightsbridge and Harrods and Oxford street by tube, very close also to Kensington Gardens, direct tube to Heathrow, the below hotel offers excellent value imo. Great restaurant in hotel, large bar, comfortable but small rooms, perfect for two people. First link is hotel link, second link, main uk site, I find you can get better deals.Click on bed and breakfast link and type London and search for hotel.

If the above doesn't appeal check out www.tripadvisor.com and do a search for London hotels again I would deffo go for South Kensington area, this website will give you reviews of hotels.
