Apparently Apple might not stand on very strong legs if they go after this one just for EULA violations, it seems they'll need to nail them on something a bit more substantial (such as copyright violation or patent infringement): http://www.wired.com/gadgets/mac/news/2008/04/apple_psystar

I am actually secretly wishing Apple is more than successful in quashing these clones, obliterate them to smithereens. If possible, sue them to their last dollar and use the gains to reduce Apple hardware prices .

Would simply look ridiculed if my Macs get compared to a "el cheapo".

And if possible, moderators of this forum must then ban such users from posting here .

The basic concept behind crushing these clone-makers is to keep the cost of Apple-branded hardware artificially inflated, so reduced Apple prices aint gonna happen...

One way or another Apple will never allow these clones to take off, if they did it would destroy the basis of how Apple make their cash (a monopoly on the hardware required to run Mac OS).

If they did take off it would be awesome, those who want a "pretty" machine designed by Apple could continue to pay over the odds for it while anyone who wants a functional, powerful, customisable Mac could buy one from a selection of manufacturers (i.e. a healthily competitive market). Thats just a fantasy though.

It'd be nice to be able to have a cheap(affordable) mac, will never happen but it would be nice... Had someone asking me at the weekend if I could build them a mac, they couldn't understand why I couldn't...

Microsoft need some competition in the OS sector... Would be great if apple released OSX for pcs...

It was only a matter of time before this was tried - the tools have been out there since Tiger was around. I think Apple are missing a huge opportunity here. They would more than make up for the amount lost in hardware imo.

You can have a cheap and affordable computer running osX not necessarily an apple built or branded machine. It's just a matter of looking around but dont' expect any support.
