    Hi All
My work computer is not allowing me access to any search engine sites...e.g. Google, Yahoo, Ask etc. Even the Google search within Firefox wont work.
I can get to the Wikipedia homepage :)
    This is really odd.......any ideas....urgent!!
Mods, move the thread at your discretion

Your not on your own....I have noticed that I am getting a "The requested URL could not be retrieved" error in Google after page1 ....never seen this before......I am using OpenDNS for DNS resolution instead of the Eircom DNS server......Not sure if that makes any difference...

If you go to Google by IP?

odd... I can access search engines fine,

could it be a change that has been made to your hosts file? I'm not a huge techy so maybe someone can fix me on this - but some viruses can get in and change something in a file, and it keeps redirecting you to dodgey websites?

have you done a virus scan?

    Must be a DNS issue...

Going to Google by IP won't work either.
It's not just confined to Firefox....IE7 is giving the same prob.
I have noticed that my Symantec Anti Virus will not allow me to scan for viruses, says
"Could not start scan. Scan engine returned error 0x2."

I'd bring it up with support in here but they are worse than useless and as pleasant to deal with as the Taleban.

As its an internal system, thats still your best bet though. The problem could be with your machine, their proxies, DNS somewhere along the line... You don't know unless you ask.
