Creative Zen buggered?

Sorry if this topic has been dealt with here before, but I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm useless with technology so please bear with me. I checked the charter but I figured searching for a word like "zen" would just get me a shed load of results that I'd never be able to sift through, and given my crappy knowledge of the player in question I couldn't do a google search. I clicked the creative link in the charter but the player I have doesn't seem to be on the official creative europe site.

I have a pretty old creative zen mp3 player, one of the big chunky ones from about three years ago, a bit bigger and thicker than a deck of cards and pretty heavy (I don't know the size or specs or whatever, I'm useless at that kind of thing, sorry).

Recently it just stopped working. When I turn it on the screen lights up but pretty much nothing happens. The screen either goes back to the screen it was on last time it went off or goes to a screen with four formatting options (I can't remember what they are exactly, and I haven't hit any of them in case it wipes the memory). When it doesn't go to the formatting screen it just shows the screen of the last song playing, but I can't get it off that screen. When I push the buttons or use the touch-pad it makes the clicking sound to register that the button has been used or whatever, but it doesn't do anything. The power button doesn't even work, the only way to turn it off is to let the battery die.

I know I didn't exactly explain the problem very well, but I was hoping that someone here might be familiar with the problem and might be able to help me out. I'm just wondering, is it completely borked or can it be fixed? And if it can be fixed will I lose all of the songs that are on it?

    Thanks

Now i'm guessing it's one of these?: ZenTouch20gb.jpg
Either way, it's not sounding too good tbh, it could be harddrive failure considering the age of it. Here's a question, what happens when you plug it into the usb port of your computer? does the drive spin up or what happens. If the computer doesn't recognise it then i'd say there's little chance of repairing it unfortunately. Well give that a go and report back.
