Losing wireless signal periodically...

Hi there. My laptop (Advent 9517 running vista home p) loses it's signal every so often (maybe once every 2 hours) to my router (Linksys WRTP54G). It just cuts it off, regardless of what it's doing. Restarting the laptop has no effect, but the ethernet'ed PC still has internet, the phone (VOIP) has a line, and other wireless devices can connect...But to solve it, I need to reboot the router.

I'm not sure which device is causing it though, as it only happens on the laptop, but it needs a reboot to fix it. It normally has about 60-80% signal, sometimes going as low as 30%, but no lower...Is there anything I can run to find out what the problem is, or has anybody experienced similar problems? It's been bugging me for weeks...

Any help would be suppa ;)

Have you checked to see if there are any other wireless networks in the vicinity? Netstumbler will help you do this.

have you tried changing the channel that your wireless network is using?

Have router and wireless card both got the latest firmware?

There are no other networks near me, I'm out in the sticks :)

The wireless is currently on channel 11, I haven't changed it from factory settings. What effect does the channel have on the broadcast?

The wireless card (which seems to be the problem) has the newest firmware, but I'm not sure on the router. I was told that Vonage would update it, but I don't think it has been...it's a Linksys WRTP54G and it's running 3.1.17 if that helps...
