Just heard that apparently TN won Newspaper, Editor and Journalist of the Year at the Student Media Awards tonight :D

Serious congrats to Gearoid O'Rourke for his trojan work on the paper. TN was a league apart this year.

They're literally the only results I've heard so maybe someone else knows how Analogue, The Record, Miscellany et al did?

    People's Choice for Analogue
Travel writer and short story for The Record's writers.
    Icarus for website.

Didn't win the photography category :( oh well.

Aw hard luck. It sucks not to win but at the end of the day, if you're good, you're good, and you don't need an award to tell you that. Plus there's always next year ;)

That's brill about Analogue and the Record and Icarus though. Is this the first time the Record has won anything in about six years? And fair play to Analogue - the country colleges always run huge campaigns to try and win the People's Choice so they obviously got a huge vote.

On a personal level I'm quite happy that the judges put an amateur hobbyist photographer who studies law on the same level as some of those who study media and design in DIT/Griffiths etc. Nonetheless the extra recognition of winning would have been nice (a somewhat obvious statement though :))

Now if they only had a "law student photographer of the year" category :p

Lulz. That should TOTALLY be a category :p

Do you happen to know who won any of the other categories? I'm really curious....

Erm - I only distinctly remember the Trinity winners since I was taking photos at the event (typical eh?)

But generally I know UCD's group won quite a few. I think NUIG won short film? Trinity won script writing. Can't remember if Cork won anything. Limerick might have won a sports photog award... Ballyfermot won an award for a writing piece. Can't be any more specific than that sorry!

I wonder could I threaten to sue???

Yeah, ran into them on Grafton Street last night, they were more than ecstatic.

Congrats to all the winners, well deserved. And commiserations to those of you who may have missed out, there's always next year.

That's a fantastic result for Trinity!! Well done to all those who took home the awards on the night and commiserations to everyone else.

I'm really pleased for Analogue. Yay.

The TN team seem mightily pleased with themselves. Looking forward to Martin continuing Gearóid's good work next year.

And Bren is hilariously angry looking in that photo.

Well you don't get nominated for news photog if you can't capture and distort the facts of the situation ;)

The other 2 photos of him are normal - I thought this one looked pretty funny too.

yeah angry looking, nice pics tho!

Well I'm sure Gearoid doesn't normally look like this either:

Oxygen still haven't put up the list of winners on their site. Very bad. It should have been the first thing that they did last night. It looks very unprofessional.

I love that photo of the TN crew. I think they all look chuffed and somewhat bashful rather than 'pleased with themselves'. :)

And Bren looks like he's about to give the order to let the revolution comence...:pac:

    Congratulations to all concerned!

Bren looks positively evil in his foto. I love it.

And someone bumped into us on Grafton Street? Did we walk down Grafton Street? Yeesh, I cant remember!

Congrats to all the winners. And yeah UCD did very well, the Observer won a few awards. My mate used to be music editor for it so congrats to them.

And its great to see the Record winning too.

Super congrats to Trinity News. The quality of the paper is excellent this year.

Saying it like that makes it look like they put it up quickly before :pac:

I'll allow myself to have a little pimpage...

Here's the three photos that I received the News Photog nomination for:

I don't remember if you were there or not. It was outside Burger King. Bren, Gareth and Ailbhe were there anyway, on their way to Doyle's.

Eoin Fleck from TN also won Sport Writer of the year. One of the people in the TN photo isn't part of the paper
