Spoiled for choice mate - Lucan Golf Club is near ya, plenty in Kildare too. Place in Enfield (name escapes me, but there's a dude on her always talking about it, and he's right - it's a lovely course), Elm Hall in Celbridge is a tidy enough little nine-hole course, Grange Castle in Clondalkin, Hermitage on N4 (city bound side), Knockanally on Enfield Road, Killeen Golf Club in Kill, Craddockstown in Nass, Naas GC itself - oh, and there's Carton House, the K Club and the PGA not too far from ya if you're feeling fancy.. :)

Wow i really am spoiled for choice but does anyone have an idea how much it is to play on any of these courses as id be happy enough to just tip around on a half decent course till I got the hang of it again without spending too much!

Played Elm Hall in Celbridge (just off the dublin road near the Orchard garden centre) on Sunday afternoon and it cost €30 for 18 holes. Not sure how much it is for nine holes and I think it is cheaper on weekdays.

The course was in good condition and surprisingly very quiet for a sunday afternoon.

It's a nice little course Elm Hall and the greens are very good on it. Personally, for a decent round at a good price in the area - I'd give my thumbs-up to Grange Castle on the Nangor Road in Clondalkin. You'd be there in under 20mins from Leixlip.

Luttrelstown castle GC is only 10 mins from Leixlip, amazing course.
Westmanstown is almost next door to that and then you have the new Castleknock golf and country club 10-15 mins from leixlip too, all very nice courses

Green fees in Hermo are €85 without a member I believe. Not what the OP is looking for. €22 with a member. Played there on Monday for the first time in nearly 10 years. Forgot how nice it is in places, especially holes 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Lucan (my club) is €45 without a member, and €17 with. Open Week is in mid-May and I can guarantee that the place will be in great nick, especially the greens.

Craddockstown GC (Naas) is a 25-minute drive away from Leixlip. If you go here -> http://www.teetimes.ie/, you'll see green fees in C'town being offered for as little as €17 for 2 players. It's a smashing course for that price.

That's a cracking price for a great course! Hey Madds, old buddy old pal... :)

I'm sure it's a major irritant for members, but it's somethin I've always found gas when I'm there (the big kid in me I s'pose) - there's a par-three in Lucan down near the far corner (only 3rd or 4th hole) right at the boundary wall. Hanging over it on the far side of the road is a bit of a forrest where ye get a couple of schoolkids knocking around when they've nothin to do and they're little partypiece is to let a big roar in someone's backswing and leg it.

Last time I played there, they spared me and my playing partners and we played the hole undisturbed. They also went easy on the first two members of the next three-ball..... then, the last guy - right at the top of his backswing - they all shout and run off resulting in the inevitable duffed shot. Funny thing is - the last man to play was a priest! I dunno, I just found it hilarious - the little f*ckers!

I'd say Fr Whatshisname had to say an extra Hail Mary or two that night after he cursed the little sh*tes from a height...

Yeah Whip, that's a popular congregation point for the local youth to "cheer" the players on. 15 years ago the tee used to be located where those kids congregate. They weren't so brave back then. ;)

Thats what my reply was to be also,
accross the rstream, up the steps,
accross the road, up more steps,
and at the edge of the woods, big concrete tee box
