    Howdy,

I've been interested in doing some scriptwriting for a while(two tv comedies and a movie idea outlined), I'm not entirely sure where to start though. Does anyone have any experience with it that they might like to share? Or, at the very least, does anyone have an idea of a good place to start looking? Even if someone who knows what they are doing(or not :p), and would perhaps like to collaborate on an idea, I would welcome that too ;)

    Thanks in advance.

Read a book on scriptwriting (syd field is the man apparently)
read a book on comedy writing, bbc website
yer post reads like the excuse everyone(including me) uses for not actually starting "i would love to but".
an internet search will tell you the best books

Start by reading scripts, to get familiar with the form.

The place to look for them is:

    http://www.script-o-rama.com

You will find a lot of other useful links there too.

And I agree with elshambo's post, the "excuse" part

Check out the Irish Writer's Centre on Parnell St. They ran a script writing course a while back.

Damn right it's an excuse, and a good one too! Thanks though, it really helps when other people tell you to nut the hell up and just get on with it - even if you've tried to tell youself.

I'll check out the info as well, again thanks.

No worries, now I just need to find someone to say the same thing to me:D

Download scriptwriting software, been using this one for a while and it's really helpful...www.celtx.com - it bascially lays the script out for you, so now all you have to do is worry about content! Also check out www.filmmakersnetwork.ie - there's a whole forum dedicated to scriptwriting.

Nice one man, thanks! I think my main problem is that I'm thinking of too many projects at once -probably on purpose - which makes it hard to pick and develop any one of them. I'm my own biggest pain in the rear-hole.

Hopefully that Celtx majigger will help me choose once I started laying them out.

If you give each person a back story
they reckon up to 10 pages for the main down to couple for the bit parts
makes it easier to think of what the character would actually say in a suitation, supposed to make the whole content thing a lot more realistic and easier to write

Or U can go for the whole stilted rubbish that would sound cool way the QuentinT fella goes for
"you have offended my honour, we must battle for the right to buy the mocca lattes"
