Not sure if I'm in the right place here but it'd be great if someone could help me! :)
My computer (Packard Bell) is almost a year old & in the past few months everytime I go on Bebo the computer will freeze or will shut down, after a grey box comes on screen saying 'An error has been found'. It's happening everytime i'm on it now so as you can imagine it's really annoying!
Could I have a virus or faulty software?? i'm out of my depth here so any help is appreciated! :o

Sounds like a Virus to me. Id say the same thing happens even if your not browsing the web? You may have caught something while downloading software, music etc. Have you an AntiVirus software on the machine? If not, get your hands on some AntiVirus software and run a scan to clean any potentially harmful programs or bugs that are running in the background.

Have you installed an "doggy" software? If it only happens while you browse the web are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox? If all else fails, a re-image or the machine might be a good idea (basically restore the machine back to the way it was when you bought it by reinstalling the operating system. You should be given this cd with the purchase.) You will need to back everything you want onto an external drive first if you were to do this.

But the best bet is to run some AntiVirus before you try a re-image.

I wouldn't be too quick to put this down to a virus . It may be a virus but doesnt sound like a typical infection . What browser are you using ? Have you tried a different browser ? Does this only happen when you go to a specific bebo page ? Or any and all pages at bebo.com ? Does it happen on any other web site ? Does the system crash at any other time e.g. playing games , playing video or music files , etc ? What is the exact wording of the error message and is it a System Error message or Internet Explorer/Firefox/Opera or Adobe Flash Player ....

Anything in the Event Log relating to the crash ? Control Panel/Admin Tools/Event Viewer . Click System in the left hand pane .

What OS are you running ?

Go to Bebo with firefox and internet explorer.
    Which one shuts down? both?

Is it only on bebo it's happening?
    What about youtube?
    etc,

It mainly happens with Bebo, but also with YouTube, I can't think of any other sites it closes down  but to check my Yahoo emails or play music etc it is fine :)
I'm sorry but I am green when it comes to computer hardware etc, all I can say is that the computer has Windows 98.
There is Norton on the computer but it is out of date.
Also twice yesterday when I turned the computer on a blue screen appeared with text more or less saying an error has occured and to restart but if it happens again to see my Administrator.
Sorry this is hard to explain if I knew the right lingo then I could explain better!

    Blue screens arnt good.

Was there a series of code after the message saying to see your administrator?
    0X0000...... etc...

I find ad-aware is a great program for finding virus's. If you google it you can find it easy enough. Id link it, but im at work at software downloading sites are blocked.
Run adaware and see if it finds anything.

Thanks for that, I think there is something like XOOOXO etc on the blue screen. I tried installing Adaware and AVG at different stages but they both said it was dangerous to install more than one anti-virus program, but as the computer is shared and Norton came with the computer I was unsure what to do!
