Technomate & Motor not turning to 42e

Having a strange problem of late, My Technomate thats driving a H to H motor will not turn past about 36e. Ive reset and turned off any limits that may have been set, unplugged the receiver and the dish cable. Ive also reset the motor via the technomate settings, but to no avail. There is no obstructions stopping the dish from moving. Ive poked a small thin piece of wire into the hole in the bottom of the motor (Supposed to be a re set switch?).

Its driving me mad as its frustrating why this is happening.

Oh i cant even move it manually using the east & west buttons on the motor itself.

    Any suggestions would be welcomed.

If you have reset any hardware limits and cannot move the motor the full range using E/W buttons , then motor is faulty. Probably a mechanical problem with the gear train. If under guarantee return, if not replace.

There are usually physical limits on the motor, that can be adjusted by loosening with a screwdriver, and sliding the limits to where ever required to limit. Maybe this is whats limiting the motor?

Though if you're also having trouble with the buttons on the motor, maybe there is a serious problem with the whole unit.

Ill have another physical look at the motor. Its working fine on the west turns and there is no problem with the motor its self aligning to any satellites. Just it wont budge past about 36east. Ive removed all limits (Deleted) via the tehnomate reciever. Not to keen on opening the motor up incase i bugger it up. Its well out of warrenty now as well.

It's been a while since I messed with my motor, but I don't think it needs to be taken apart/opened to adjust the physical limits, or at least see if that's maybe where the stop is. Is there not just a flap/sticker that can be lifted to get to it?

Sorry, yes, you'll have to do a bit of dismantling to get to the limits in the motor.

sounds like the gears are worn and thats why the motor will only move so far in a given direction, my guess is the gearing mechanism is plastic and not metal as i would prefer, a lot of the cheaper motors use hard plastic gearing which will eventually wear away, sounds like a new motor is needed.

Some motors store limits internally and have a reset feature (usually holding some button or a pin hole access switch).

Sounds unlikely to be gears if it does 36E to 45W.

    What make is it?

Also some Central Europe brands only do +/- 40 or 45 degrees degrees approx. In Europe mainland that will be OK for 42E, but in say Limetick I had such a motor and because due South is 8W approx, then the motor needed to do almost 50 degrees East to get 42W. If would only go to nearly 39E (not quite as signal poor)!

Obviously in Ireland a Motor only has to do about 40W to get the 45W approx.

    SO Summary:

    1) If the motor has never done 42E when properly aligned with 0 = due south( 5 to 10 degrees W), then it is mechanical limit of design.
    2) If the Motor has done 30W & 45W and 42E in the past then it is a SW limit programmed in or a stripped cog or a slipped limit switch(unlikely).

No it has done 42east before. I will eventually try another reciever in case its something to do with that. I have tried to reset via the pin hole underneath the motor but it doesnt seem to do anything. The make of the motor is: Geotrac SG2100

SG2100 is a Motek model (does do about +/- 70 at least)

Try holding reset while reconnecting power
