We have these Millipede like creatures infesting the front of our house each nite. There are about 2 inches in length, hardbacked and curl up when disturbed. Dont think they are of much harm, but would luv to get rid of them. Has anyone else come across these and know how to get rid of them?

    Mike.

To naturally reduce the number of millipedes you should reduce the areas that harbour them.
So get rid of old dead plant leaves and general trash around the house.
Containers and window boxes are other hideouts, so consider ditching these as well.

Light during the night will bring them from their lairs, so consider turning off outdoor light and pulling the curtains tightly.:)

Thanks for the response. There is no trash outside the house as i have put stones and a few box hedging plants out there. Its looks like they are comming out from underneath the stones at night, so they may be hiding in the weed kill during the day. Is there any pestiside that you would reccomend to get rid of them completley?

Just wondering if 1 applies why 2?

They provide a valuable link in the food chain and one of part of their diet can be ant larva so u might have a worse problem

Malathon dust or liquid. We have them they arrive in concrete blocks while building work was going on. If they come inside they die, you usually see them out in mild nights

They used to live in our coal shed, and so be brought into the house in the coal. Horrible things. If they want to be part of our food chain, they need an image makeover :D.
