I have a reasonably new laptop and want to make sure its protected properly. I'm not exactly a genius with computers and have learnt a bit just by reading through threads in this forum. Can some of the experts on here give me an opinion on the security programs i'm running and tell me if they are suitable and compatible

    On my laptop i have

    Kaspersky Internet Security
    Windows Defender
    Ad Aware 2007
    SpywareBlaster

    Thanks for your help

I'm sure one of the experts will add more to this but personally I like MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware.

ActorSeeksJob told me on another thread this:
For anti-virus and firewall programs, you can only have one of each, I recommend AVG and Comodo

For anti-spyware, you can have more than one, I recommend MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and Dr. Web Cureit

Kaspersky is the perfect anti-virus, but it isn't free thats why I don't recommend it much

I would remove Ad-Aware and Windows Defender, neither are any good. MBAM is great, like Gavin has said. I would add in SpywareGuard and then you would have excellent protection

    Thanks for the replies lads.

I will install MBAM like you advised. I have had problems installing spywareguard already. I read somewhere on that site that because its new there might still be problems installing on some syatems so i'll give it another go.

I don't mind paying for Kaspersky once its good enough to do its job. Luckily i got it when there was some deals available and only paid 21euro for 2 years.

Thats a reasonable price. I use norton but its a lot more expensive. Dont know a thing about Kaspersky however.
