I couldn't figure out where to post this... so mods please move if necessary.

Did anyone catch the guy from moviestar.ie on newstalk radio this morning talking about the launch of their movie download service? They're going to be providing a service similar to ITunes in the US where you can pay 99c or more and download a movie.
But I'm a member of moviestar.ie and I went the website this morning to check it out and there's nothing about it there so I started think I'd dreamt it... it was early in the morning and I was still in bed.....
am I making it up? did I hear it or was I dreaming?

Don't worry you are not having wierd dreams. It was featured on both Newstalk and RTE, the RTE discussion ended on a surreal note as the interview subject reckoned DVD had 3 years before this new delivery system killed it.

Someone should have pointed out 40% of households do not even have a computer never mind 20 mbs bb.

Our very own damien.m was on Newstalk.

    Mike.

thanks for that mike. So do you find it just a little strange that they're launching something that they haven't even put up on their website yet? not only have they not got it up and running on their website yet but they don't even have mention of it... not even a "coming soon"..... bit odd!

Oh and as for downloads taking over DVD's... I know people who still use video ffs... no way is that going to happen in 3 years

VCR FTW in my house still.

Have not checked the site yet but it sounds typical.

It is lauching on May 1st. http://www.siliconrepublic.com/news/news.nv?storyid=single10730 By the sounds of it it will have DRM 10 but then again it says you will be able to watch films on an iPod Touch but that is probably wrong. I'd love if they were iPod compatible. By the sounds of it they have not signed a deal with any Hollywood studio so it could be old content they have.

    +1

I would definatly use this if im not being raped by DRM (and download speeds etc are ok)

<edit> Just read that silicon republic article and turns out the raping will be severe! Im not a big fan of something I buy basically deleting itself off my computer after a month

The vids won't work with iPods. Pity.
