Sound card / driver issue

Does anybody know how I can check what type of sound card I have on my laptop? Do I need to take it apart and look inside?

My hard drive recently died so I had to get a new one, which I have installed, formatted, and put Windows XP on and everything's working fine except for the sound. When I go into the control panel sound tab it tells me that there is No audio device on the laptop. As far as I can tell, I just need to get a driver for it and install it but the problem is I don't know what sound card is on it. It's a Packard Bell EasyNote UNI-TRI-NT.

    Thanks in advance.

Download and install everest. It's saved my ass in situations like this a few times.

Also go to the manufacturer's website. The drivers should be there.

Thanks guys. After much searching I finally found my laptop specs on the Packard Bell website and they had the driver th'ere. Cos it's old enough, it was hard to find first time round! Cheers! :D

    Hi, White Apples.

I met the same problem as you did. I tried the Packard Bell website but I didn't manage to find the sound card driver. Can you please send me the URL so I can have the driver installed.

    Thanks in advance.

White Apples doesn't look like he has been online since April the 4th, so I doubt he is going to respond here.

Sorry guys, I only got an email on the 19th to say that there had been a post on this forum, didn't mean to be ignoring you. Glad you got sorted out anyway! The only thing I'm still trying to find is a driver for the function keys on my keyboard cos they're not working now!!!
