Student discount laptops

I met up with a friend in UCD who got a laptop at a discount due to being a student of UCD.

DOes anyone know if there is anything similar for students in NUIG?

Not that I'm aware of, was it because he was doing a particular coarse or was it open to all students of UCD. From what I remember, when I was looking through their prospectus back in the day some of there business courses had discount laptop schemes, I think.

Business students at UCD are required to have a laptop, the website does'nt say how much subsidised those ones are.

No, there is nothing similar for UCG students

I know Dell do a 25% discount for students, don't know about other manufactures, though.

It doesn't apply to business models but vostros are so cheap you don't need a discount...

You should be able to get a discount through the Employee Purchase Programme (www.dell.ie/epp). Just enter NUIG in the box when purchasing. This is not verified -- you can enter BOI, Coillte or others to get the discount.

A while ago I was told Computer Services were trying to sort something out with a couple of manufacturers.
I think Compsoc are looking into getting some sort of deal for their members available next year. Don't know too much about it though.

Apple give a 6% discount to students. Its not a lot but it's better than a poke in the eye with a stick!
