phone volts link was 279,99 EUR Now 139,99 EUR

dealextreme link $75.69 (€48) free shipping

If anyone is going to buy the one on phonevolts i think the dealextreme is exactly the same and save about €80

Its easy to tell, the instructions are the same. Bad buzz if paid €280 for it

I don't think it has anything to do with phonevolts being Irish but more to do with dealextreme being a good site for bargains.

Ordered one a couple of weeks ago and am pretty happy with it. There are a few positives and negatives.

On the plus side it's basic function is very good. Can hear and be heard very well. The little earpiece for private calls works well too. Battery life is excellant. I've had it for 2 weeks now and haven't had to recharge it yet. No problems pairing with either Nokia or Sony Ericsonn phones. Installation couldn't be easier because it simply clamps on to your existing mirror.

On the negative side the caller ID display is practically invisible during bright daylight, I have to lean down so that I am looking at the roof of the car in the mirror to be able to read the display. Most newer phones now have a caller name announcement feature so I don't mind that too much. Also the phonebook contacts have to be transfered one by one so if you want to see someone's name come up on the mirror you have to transfer the detail from your phonebook to the mirror and it will only recognise it in the 0871234567 format, it will not recognise it if the number is transfered as +353871234567. The mirror hooks on to your existing rearview mirror quite nicely but has a tendancy to shake slightly which can be a bit nauseating (I've kind of gotten used to this and it doesn't bother me as much as it did at first). Also the mirror itself is considerably wider than most factory fit mirrors meaning that for tall people like myself it slightly (but not dangourously) obscures part of the view to the left hand side of the windscreen. The surface of the mirror quite dark, giving a strange feel to the reflection, again this is a matter of getting used to it. The last negative is that I find it quite difficult to use the phone's voice dialling feature as generally it won't pick up the name. I think this is more to do with the level of cabin noise in my car which is an older diesel.

All in all, it's worth the €50 or so from deal extreme. I wouldn't dream of paying €140 for it or anything close to it let alone €280. When I change my car towards the end of the year I think this will be given away or go in the bin as I'll get a proper Nokia kit rather than transfering this over.
