I have some videos I put on my Zen but they don't work because it says something about incompatible resolution. So I googled around and found out it can only play 320 x 240. Anyone know where I can get a free resolution converter?

The ZV:M plays video resolutions up to 640x480 , the ZEN however supports only up to 320x240.

Really? Well this one just comes up with the error saying Cannot play video with this resolution. So I'm guessing the easiest way is to use some software to change it but I can't find any that are free.

As mentioned above it sounds like you've an incompatible codec as opposed
to a resolution issue with the file you're trying to view.

Try downloading and converting it with Super
    http://www.erightsoft.com/Superdc.html
it's free and better than most - even the programs you have to
    pay for.

Super is truly a great programme!

If you want something simpler though have a look at iriverter.

    Best wishes

Does Super have good multithreading? I have been using Iriverter, Any Video Converter and TMPGEnc all are pretty good but don't seem to take full advantage of the CPU, like 70% on one core and 40% on the other...

This is really late... But yeah, what settings would you recommend to encode the video in?

The Zen Vision M’s screen size is 320 x 240 but it also play/convert 640 x 480 which is non-HD TV resolution. Setting the width to 640 will give you the best resolution when watching on a TV and it will automatically downscale the
video if you are watching the it on the screen in the Zen.

If you're using Super, here's a quick step by step guide:
    - Output Container: AVI
    - Output Video Codec: XVID
    - Output Audio Codec: MP3 (ZVM can't play AAC)

Drop the video you wish to convert into Super and double-click on it
to check it's properties. If the resolution is already suitable leave it as is
and just select "No change" in Video Scale Size and 1:1 in Ratio.

Here's the properties of a file taken from the properties info in Super
that plays perfectly in both ratio and quality on the ZVM (using the screen
    and TV out).
