So Harvey Normans have the TH42PY70 for 1329 euros

I was looking at TVs last week and had my mind set on the 42PV80 that could be had for 1200. I don't think there is any shop that has both on display, so I wouldn't be able to directly compare.
I know the PY70 has full HD, but I am not too bothered as I am sitting far enough from the TV and I don't have time to play games :o , I also just have SD input ( That could change if Sky HD would become a little less expensive. Same goes for Blue Ray DVD player).

    The PY70 is on komplett 1590, the PX80(=PV80) 990 + delivery (120).
If the outgoing model is 600 euro more expensive than the new model, is that only because of full HD vs HD ready ?
Based on my requirements ( Good SD picture with deep blacks, maybe Sky HD in a year or so, maybe not, and hoping to take advantage of an upscaling DVD player) would you even consider paying 130 euro extra for the PY70 ?

Also , I was wondering if you buy a TV from komplett, and it breaks in warranty who is paying for shipping ? Bought stuff off them before but nothing ever broke.

I've never played an XBOX or PS3 game in my life but I'm going to purchase a PS3 because you get a games console and a Blue Ray DVD player in one and its cheaper than a standalone Blue Ray player. Makes sense in my head anyway!!!!....Not sure how the DVD war is going but I would not fork out 500+ Euro at this stage for one...

I'm guessing (uninformed answer based on reading older posts!), that most would say go for the 42PV80 (42PX80 if your not concerned about the Irish tuner) because 1080p is negligible at 42".

Also, a few of the main guys here own (or have owned) the earlier model (42PV70) and have said its a great TV.

I'm just "treating" myself to the 1080p because its my first plasma, new apartment, etc, etc.......its all psychological! :)

Also, I'm not getting hung-up on new and older models because from reading posts here the 42PY70 was new back in Aug/Sept 2007, so 42PV80 will be old in no time and I plan to have my TV for plenty of years....who knows Sky might even start broadcasting 1080p in years to come! :)
