    What exactly are you proposing?

Is this basically market research? As such, will these people be compensated for their time?

I'm not gonna go but just want to say one thing, reward the tournament players with freerolls and stuff not just the cash players

Don't reward the cash players with freerolls at all, we don't want them and won't play them.

Firstly Thank You very much to those of you who took the time to contact me.

I am still waiting to speak to two of you and have sent you pm's to arrange a time to call you.

Its been great to have such positive feedback and arrange meetings for discussions to continue. I hope to be able to post the findings and conclusions of all these meetings (with the players permission) once they have taken place.

Once again thank you for your time and input

    Paul Spillane

What is the point of these meetings? What are Boylesports hoping to achieve? Who will be taking the meetings? If this constitutes market research or "expert opinion", will the people be compensated appropriately?

Oh pish, why must you be so antagonistic. If you dont like the idea don't go. Give the man his dues after all he only has about five minutes left of grace till he gets torn apart piece by piece...

I wonder if I had put it in bullet points would it have seemed less antagonistic?

    Hi

The invite was to discuss with players a question that Dagunman had originally posed, ‘Irish Poker, where do we stand?’ I agreed with some points and disagreed with others.

I read it just as I had presented to my boss, the strategy Boylepoker should take over the next 24 months and beyond.

The invite was to discuss Daguman’s post, the way in which we could be involved, suggestions from both players and ourselves on how to improve things and generally have a chat about all things Irish and Poker.

I have been overwhelmed by the positive response and over the next few weeks will be meeting players at our HQ, at various agreed hotels and at Irish Poker venues. As my post earlier indicated I have had to close the invite (for now) as I need to spend time discussing plans with those that took the time to reply to me and of course implementing those said plans.

We did not get overwhelmed by players enquiring about sponsorship, in fact only one player mentioned it and he is a very reputable player that will undoubtedly find sponsorship when the time suits him.

The response we got was from a wide cross section of the Irish community that appear not to have their self interests at heart but the interests of the Irish Poker playing community as a whole and I am extremely grateful that they have agreed to give me the time to discuss this further with them.

I am more than happy to report back (if the players are agreed to this), on the discussions held. I would be happy for anyone I meet to also give their feedback on this site.

I am acutely aware that Boylepoker could have a better reputation in the Irish market and there are many reasons (or excuses) why this is not the case. I intend to correct this in the very near future. Of course, actions speak louder than words; please be patient (ish) but you will be seeing a new ‘Boylepoker’ in the very near future. Of course if you don’t like it we can now blame someone other than ourselves. (That was a joke btw). ;)

Good Luck with this. Less of the scepticism please those of You who are cynical. This seems a genuine attempt by Boyle Sports to understand what We want.

Of course it's genuine. Other companies that don't have a community to tap into call it market research.

    Hi Paul.

    If not too late to be taken into consideration, the main issues players have (and I'm obviously not speaking for all, just people I've spoken to) are;
    1) rakeback
    2) sign-up bonus
    3) software ;-
of which there are lots of issues
    a) automatic top-up whenever below 100 BBs)
    b) re-sizeable tables
    c) extremely accessible player notes (pref colour coded).

This is completely off the top of my head, I hope everyone else has provided a more comprehensive list. All the best for future improvements

I agree, call a spade a spade. But market research and the recognition that these type of communities ARE the target audience is a step in the right direction.
I don't see anywhere in his post where he is pretending to be Sr Assumpta of the five wounds.

Wouldnt it be great if there was some place on the internet where people could get together and discuss these sort of things.

i agree with sproddles. fair play to boylepoker for actively seeking our opinion. as poker players we moan "why dont people listen to us" and a poker company come on and say "ok, we'll listen" and people look for reasons to give out. yes it equates to free market research, fair play to them for spotting the opportunity.

Well he wouldn't, would he. Cos Sr. Assumpta's game is blackjack, not poker. I think she was one of the MIT crowd that "broke" the casinos. :D
