I am having the exact same problem. Same router. Cannot get NAT Type 2, stays stuck at type 3 no matter what I do. I have UPnP enabled on both the PS3 and the router, but whenever I do an internet connection test it tells me uPnP is not available. I have the firewall off as well. All ports forwarded correctly as given on the PS3 site manual.

Weird that it's not working with the firewall off, I had mine set at the default settings, knocked off the firewall and it worked perfectly. Then sorted out the ports and stuck the firewall back on and it's working fine too.

    Well lads..

I have the same router.. I even had NAT 2 and all until firmware 2.20

Now I'm stuck at NAT 3 and it won't budge.. I made a guide how to get NAT 2 and it worked for me and my friends.. You can give it a go if you's want..

    Drop me an email.. mattteddy@hotmail.com

I have two PS3s in the house, both on NAT2. On lets me play online and the other doesn't, can't work it out for the life of me.

search on you tube for 'keep it carlow' it will show you how to set up the ps3 for nat 1 with wireless. i tried all the online guides too and none of em worked but that did. (though my ps3 worked fine online with nat 3 and i only wanted to change cos i everyone says nat 3 is bad. haven't noticed any difference since nat 1 either but i don't have a headset)

have ya got broadband from eircom if ya do go to the network settings on ps3 and enter them manually, for the ip address just put it at somethin like 192.168.1.20, the default gateway is 192.168.1.254 the primary dns 213.94.190.194 and the secondry 213.94.190.236 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and do not use proxy, do not use mtu and enable upnp, should work for ya, let me know

    Worked for me,

    MTU set at 1500.
The usual primary and secondary DNS servers.

..and it worked the second time for me.

Not working for me now.. Anything else? Have you checked your NAT type recently? The guide I made won't work for me anymore.. I haven't a notion whats going on..

Any other suggestions? The Keep it Carlow guide won't work because I can't use the home computer when the network is in PPoE..

Well, you PC has to run PPoE, if your running Eircom, my does. You ran run them both individually, as if you were running two computers.

Just put in the details in the PS3 the same as you would for a PC.

Wouldn't ya know it.. As soon as I read your post, I tried it one more time and it's working!

I have NAT 1 now but are the communication features fixed? There's no-one online @tm..

    Thanks!

i have the same router with eircom broadband and tried everything to get nat 1/2 but no joy.
and tried the "keep it carlow" route - IP times out when checking internet connection.

Sick of it now - eircom don't offer support for consoles:mad:

Thinking of getting new router altogether.

I'm having the same prob, Keep in Carlow vid didnt work, ports opened, no joy. It is only FIFA 09 that I'm having the prob with, I can only get a game the odd time. All other games seem fine for online gaming. Why is this only a problem with eircom!!??

I don't blame them, gamers are usually the most unreasonable bastards to deal with when it comes to getting online.

A ****ty router provided because netopia offered eircom the cheapest contract. Get a linksys and be done with it!
