no broadband ps2

i pluged the lan cable from the pc into the ps2 network adapter.when i pluged the cable into the pc it reconise the lan but (i think) the ip address is different,even though its optained automatically. Any input would be great.

Give us some more information. How do you connect to the internet for starters? Router / switch / modem / LAN / USB Modem / Phone ..

What part of the IP is different? is it just the last bit?
