Question about external finish to new house

    A quick question:

I have planning permission for a house beside, and attached to, my parents. Their house is finished in pebble dash (painted) and the first storey of it is finished in a different kind of quartz pebble dash which has remained unpainted.

My PP requires that I harmonise with the existing finish on my parent's house. My layman's understanding of the term "harmonise" is that two things don't clash but that they don't have to be the same (eg the colours blue and yellow harmonise with each other but they are not the same as each other).

But is this how planners understand it? I would really prefer to not go with pebble dash if at all possible.

As a matter of interest, the house on the other side of my parents got PP for an extension to the front a couple of years ago and they used a red brick finish on the first storey.

    Any advice appreciated.

You are pretty clear on what you don't want to do, so what exactly would you like to do?
Is the 'other house attached to ur parents house?

The above is blue and yellow in harmony

Nothing wrong with those shades of grey together!:D

I suppose amything that doesn't make the extension "stick out" would be acceptable.
The planners want the extension to blend into the landscape so that after a while it'll look as if it's always been there.
