i got my hounds out running with the bike this week,to try and keep them as near as hunting fit as possible. they'll also get plenty of road-beach walks. what do you lads do to keep your workers fit and trim off season?

I bring mine up the river fishing with me. They have a good run around after rabbits then cool down with a swim.

Mind you, they do frighten the fish and I'd only bring them to quiet spots.

I wouldn't be that pushed about keeping them fully fit this early. Time enough for that in August. In fact I'm trying to fatten up the Pointer at the moment:D

if your trying to put weight on your pointer give him plenty of raw meat from the butcher. strips of fat and meat will put the weight on. i try and feed mine raw meat and fat at least twice a week, but they'll burn it off.

Cheers - I'll try that. I've also discoverd why she's hasn't been gaining weight. She's by far the slowest eater of the three dogs and the other two attack her dish as soon as they finish their own. She ends up only getting half a meal so for the past few days I've been standing guard over them while they eat!
