Leinster versus Munster Predictions

Now's the time to put your rugby knowledge to the test in the biggest match of the season. Munster with a match in hand could get within one point of Leinster if they win.
I would have to say Leinster to win by a small margin about 23-17. They are at home and their pack is performing awesomely. The backs will be a great contest to watch , still think Leinster have the edge even with Darcy and O Driscoll injured.....

Leinster to win but Munster to pick up a losing BP. I don't see this being high scoring at all.

    (Lerinster?)

Munster by seven, Leinster's pack is fronting up lately but with the memory of Musgrave still fresh I expect Munster to shade it.

    one would do
Leinster will win the Magners league. Our late try defeat to Cardiff sealed our fate only a bonus point win would give us any hope of keeping pressure on Leinster.

Any news of the Munster team? I'd imagine they'll be resting most of their leading players for this unimportant match.
It is Leinster's biggest game of the season though. God love 'em.

Yeah, Munster have named a mix of seconds and young fellas, shows how serious they think this game is. I've not even heard of half their players.

    Munster : D Hurley, D Howlett, L Mafi, R Tipoki, I Dowling, R O'Gara (capt), P Stringer, T Buckley, J Flannery, J Hayes, D O'Callaghan, M O'Driscoll, A Quinlan, D Leamy, A Foley.
    Replacements: F Sheahan, F Pucciariello, P O'Connell, N Ronan, T O'Leary, P Warwick, K Lewis.

I agree. Even when Leinster have soundly beaten Munster on the pitch the scoreline always seems to be very close. I can't imagine there'll be more than a couple points in it, but I expect Leinster to clinch it.

My prediction is for Munster to take this one by at least 10 but with Leinster to put up a good fight. It's going to be an exciting match. *rubs hands in anticipation*

Anyway I think Munster are the favourites here. They are the in from team in Europe at the moment and I think that is how Leinster will view the match also. Which is a good thing because they will know that they really have to perform.

Its gonna be tight either way. Predictions:

    Heart: Leinster by 5
    Head: Munster by 10
    Liver: Ruined by 11

You're joking right? care to name a stronger team? (Buckley at loose head being the exception...)

Looks like Munster are taking this one seriously IMHO.

This has all the hallmarks of a hiding in the making.

Such as? I think there's only three changes from the team that was beaten in Musgrave. Obviously Howlett will make a big difference as opposed to Lewis, but that game was lost up front not behind. That freak result to Llanelli aside, Leinster are very strong at home too.

I don't know, I think it's going to be close but I think for once the score line will flatter Leinster, I'm thinking extremley even game but Leinster by between 7 - 10. Horgan, Contepomi and Fitzy to get the tries. (If we're really spoil ourselves there'll be a jackman pushover try ;))

    Seriously..

Leinster to win, and Munster NOT to get a loosing bonus point..

Munster won playing pretty badly last week, and Im sure it will have driven the Leinster players mad, seeing the quality of the rugby last weekend in all of the games. I therefore expect a big game from the big leinster players. A few of them have serious points to proove, and this is basically the last big game of the season [if we win!]

It will be brilliant to see how Luke gets on at 13. Im not his biggest fan at all, and have said as much here a number of times [great on front foot, desperate on back foot imho], but Im told again and again what a great 13 he will make. So here is his first chance against a real life NZ back line :)

Anyway Im off into town soon to get the pipes oiled in time for getting rained on in the south stand. I think I may have to upgrade my season ticket to the gold one if they are putting a roof on that stand for next season :)

munster won playing badly last weekend? are you for real? 13-1 turnovers in open play. 2 tries to nil. defence inpenetrable. what are you on about?

Aye Munster beat Glaws 16-3 2 tries to zip, and today Glaws beat Sarries 39-17.......shows just how poor Munster were.

That's an astonishing comment. Seriously, you have to expand on that.

Off to the match now via a few watering holes, this game will be very tight. My prediction is that there will be only one score in it at the end, hope it's in favour Munster.

Pity its so wet though, looks like the Gods are conspiring against us. ;)

Means I'm gonna get wet too :(

Jesus looks like its going to be the exact same match as it was down in Munster which is a shame would have been encounter if it was dry

Leinster to win a tight, low-scoring game: with the conditions it'll be a slog-fest. On my way in.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19 awhite07

It is going to be a close match but I think Munster are going to beat Leinster because Munster have a strong team like the team against Gloucster, and remember the semi-finals of the heineken cup two years ago against Leinster at home and the majority of fans in the audience were from Munster !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leinster to grind out win with back row outplaying munsters. Off to the game now ALLEZ LES BLEUS!

Munster by 7 I reckon after their impressive Heineken Cup showing.

Unfortunately I do, but there are only 6 players in Leinster's starting line-up who started that game.

Munster to win and deny Leinster a bonus point.

    Yawn

Just poking some fun, there's been some ridiculous **** posting from some of the more uneducated Leinster "Fans".

I am Munster thru and thru, but I live in Dublin and go and support Leinster at the RDS most weeks. Munster and Ireland then Leinster me, the sort of soccer hate the profligates this and other rugby boards is a joke tbh.

    *cough*

Anyway no need for Munster fans to get so defensive about last weekend, you won and we were all watching it in the pub. One of the best kickers in the world missed 3 kicks for them before you lads got out of the blocks, all the while they were all over you, it was a *huge* break. But if you had of been 9-0 down after around half an hour I think it may have been a different game. Buckley got murdered in the scrum, so they had to take him off, a very smart move, many coaches would have left him there until half time etc. I dont think he had a good night last night either, while his loose play is excellent he seems to be a TH and *deffo* not a LH.

What I mean my leinster players being angry looking on from the outside [just my opinion remember] was that none of the teams looked 'amazing' indeed the teams in the London Irish - Perpignan game and the Saracens - Ospreys games did not look all that great full stop. They all looked VERY beatable. But its our own fault for dropping games in the group stage. So no point in crying over spilt milk. But you cant disagree that we were really up for it last night. As I said yeserday morning, blokes with points to prove.

Totally agree...Absolutely love leinster but will be following Munster's progress through the Heineken cup. I was in a pub in Churchtown watching the Munster Heineken Cup win and the whole place was cheering them on as their own team..... This soccer type hate is seriously lame..
