    Have my eye on one of these, its 2002 model MGF 1.8,

    anyone know of them, owned, drove one,

    The 1.8 Rover K Series engine is prone to head gasket failure so just be aware. Build quality is ok on them but check the usual things with a convertible such as the hood works up and down if electric and there are no leaks from it.

    You should be buying it cheap so just put some money aside for possible repairs.

    Prone is an understatement! The MGF suffers worse than any other car because of the location of the engine vis a vis the radiator.

    Lovely looking car though, a bit rattley alright, but they can be got for tiny money now (€1000 - €3000 for a car needing a head gasket... which costs about €800-€1000 in an indy)... although an 2002 will cost more I'd imagine

    If you want something more bulletproof get an Mx5.
