Folks looking at embarking on an Arcade Cabinet project for the moment.

I was thinking of running MAME etc so it will be PC based.

I have a few questions though:

1: Where would I get a Bare Cabinet (No monitor), buttons and joysticks would be grand but not necessary. And roughly how much would this cost me?
2: Would I be better getting a Jamma Cab and mess around with that for a while first??
3: What advice would you guys offer me??

    Dont do it its addictive.:D

Its all comes down to what you want, and your skills easy way is get a basic jamma cab get a muti-baord 48-1 etc and away you go.If you want something a little different build one from scratch customise it the way you want, this will cost you time and money but the end result will be worth it if done right.Lots of good sites outhere BYOAC.com,Klov.com etc some good examples of machines.

If you are looking for any more info/parts let me know

Cheers mate, I have her head wrecked here that I want to build a cabinet but she thinks I will blow up the house. :p
For my first one I would like to get a bare cab or even a working cab and play around with it a bit. Over the summer then me and one of the lads in work are going to build a few from scratch for a laugh and have them running MAME.

I always wanted a cab and herself said she would buy me one for my birthday if I get one at a decent price. :D

On a related note, cheers for that ebay tip off mitch, I'm sorting out how to get it transported to Bray as we speak.

In my excitement I just ordered myself a MVS Metal Slug X.

Thinking of building a Cabinet (of sorts) myself.

I'm going to wall mount a 26inch LCD tv and an Xarcade Dual Tankstick and the appropriate heights/angles to mimic the feel of a cabinet.

Just wondering if anyone could advise me first if this is a good/bad idea and also what would a good tv / computer be to buy? I'm thinking of getting something off komplett but I don't really know what specs would be necessary so any info I could get here would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Fixed, apologies :o

Just like the ultimarc ipac, only no soldering or even configuration required:
    * buy your Sanwa (e.g.) arcade sticks and buttons,
    * plug in the switches/microswitches (all wires are already crimped and labelled up, no trial-and-error),
    * plug the PS/2 end into your PC PS/2 (std keyboard) socket,
    * fire up MAME (or boot into it) and away you go!

    Sound job, replied and all.

Cheers for getting onto me Mitch, hopefully you might have something for me. ;)
