you should cover your attic with the stuff and get with the going green save energy movement and get your money back from fuel saved

In fact depron is sold dirt cheap in the hardware shops in Europe for behind wall insulation sometimes only 2 euros per 6mm sheet if you know where to source it and when my mate used to come back every time from Europe from the building sites he brought back gobs of it what he rescuedfrom the skips for his house he was building for himself to use as insulation and lucky for me in that time I was able to scab a sheet or two of him for my indoor stuff

It is available here. I've got my depron at GreenHobbyModel in Harolds Cross, Dublin. www.greenhobbymodel.com
If you're buying ten sheets they give the eleventh sheet free. :)

I have a 3mm depron sheet from there right in front of me at the moment, and I just made this 1/3rd scale boat hull from depron fibreglass sandwich construction, the last couple of weeks.

    sonarmapperhull.jpg

It's 46" long, 12" breadth but with this method and materials the hull weighs only 14 oz.

    sonarmapper2.jpg

it's 3mm depron with 2 layers of 80 gram/sqMetre fibreglass outside, one layer or 165 gram/M2 glass cloth inside, and selective reinforcing in places with a little 105 g/M2 glass added on stress points like gunwales, bows, and transom.

Depron is great for making slowfly indoors air models and rightly popular for this use.
But depron's problem is that it is soft, so if it is covered/protected with glass cloth composites the results are far stronger and brilliant for making lightweight outdoors models.

I will post a thread with more details later ....

    I was wrong - depron is available from B&Q (Airside, Swords) - 6sq.m pack = 18euro.
    Nice green colour

It is called "Floormaster green foam underlay".
    Pack contains 10 sheets 120x50cm

    probably not :(
it seems to be a bit softer and has same finish on both sides (or I'd say - no finish at all) ... so it is not that stiff as "rc depron" .

The depron I get in GreenHobbyModel, Harolds Cross is white both sides, with the depron name printed in faint almost see through light green at intervals on each sheet. Does the job for me. :-)

For small models I have used it as it comes, both flat and heat-gun curved.
But based on how the model I'm doing right now is coming along - I think I will be using depron and balsa together with fibreglass a lot more in future models. The balsa frames, with a surface skin of depron with fibreglass on composite suits making large size models very well.
