Compressing Hard-drive Download onto blank DVD

Apologies if this is the wrong category for my posting.

I hav downloaded footage from a Website onto my Hard-drive which lasts about 2&ahalfhours, which I now want to transfer onto a blank DVD, for instant convenient play-back, but the problem is, a standard blank Dvd is 2 hours long, & my footage is slightly longer and it won't all fit onto a standard Dvd. Is it possible to buy a blank Dvd longer than 120mins? If so where?

I know there possibly is easy enough ways to compress it to get it all to fit onto the 1 Dvd, but I don't know the first thing about compressing, so if I could get a long blank Dvd, that would do the job.

If some-one would like to give me instructions on how to use a free easy-to-use Compression that would be most helpful!

    Thanks.

what kind of file or format is the video in.

if it's in dvd format then dvd shrink will do the job. If it's a *.mpg or *.avi then there are other tools available also!

I think the Format it's in is .flv? Would that be right? I downloaded it to Realplayer. But now I want to transfer it to a blank DVD if I can, for easier more convenient Playback.

I'm sure there are excellent compressing tools out there to use for this, but I just don't know the first thing about them, and I haven't a clue how to use them. I have actually installed a few Compressing packages/tools onto my Computer Desk-top, but I still need some-one to tell me how to actually compress the material from my hard-drive to a blank DVD!

The footage I want to put onto a DVD was originally downloaded in parts/sections/slots, and when I attempted to compress it or burn it to a DVD, I put the parts of the Download into a Zipped Folder, and extracted them, as I figured this would be ideal then, and quicker, as all I would have to burn to the DVD would be the Folder! But all the Parts wouldn't even fit into a Windows Folder, as it can only hold x amount of mg/gb or whatever, but the Folder only has so much space! Well I'm sure I can get around that by storing the material in 2r3 Folders or however many I need!

But the main thing is I want to learn how to transfer it or compress it onto a blank DVD for easier more convenient Playback.

That looks like it'll work. Only thing is *.flv files tend to be lower quality so if you intend playing them on a big screen they might look poor.

    What's anoda?

It's not the program that's reducing the quality, it's the fact that the video was made low quality to put online for various reasons.

I mean if you plan on playing it on a normal TV. FLV files are generally compressed to low quality. There is no way of getting around this! Try the program yoyo recommended and see how ya get on!

Ok well dat was seriously disastrous !!! What xactly do ya do ??!! I nstalled dis DVDFlick, it installed ok, thn I created a new project, added my footage dat I wanted 2 put on2 blank dvd, & dat added ok. Thn what next ??!! There is no option 2 burn to DVD ??!! The nearest I could find was called Create a dvd ..... But where do you create it to ??!! Where does the footage go 2 ??!! I thought maybe dat it might locate my blank dvd that I had inserted in2 my computer & load it dat way, but no it didn't do dat! I dunno wher da footage went to !! It did loadza tings 4 about an hour, preparing files, and encoding, and I dunno what else! So I tried another program I downloaded to see could I burn it onto the DVD. & I think it did write it to the file alright, it's on the DVD anyway! But now I can't even open it! I'm so peed off with it now and confused and annoyed with it!!

DVD Flick does burn result to dvd, read guide if your stuck: http://www.dvdflick.net/files/guide.pdf, make sure you select your dvd burner in the options, if you need a more solid program which also burns after youll need to shell out for ConvertXToDVD (http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/), the demo of it converts files but adds a watermark to the output unless you register it, I use this one

Is there a better program than convertX to dvd? just going by the trial its very slow, or is this just because it the trial version?

video encoding takes a while on most computers ,mine is fairly hi-spec and even then it still takes a while,if u have a fast processor its much better but these are expensive
