Part time v Full time

I've just started a part time job, a the moment I'm getting about 12 hours a week and that's grand.

My question is is there any restriction on how many hours I can work if I'm a "part time" employee as I get my holidays next week and will have more time to work.

Would there be any reason (employer's PRSI, etc.) why my employer couldn't let me work more than 20 hours if there are shifts going?

I'm a part timer and i have often worked upwards of 30 hours a week if I have holidays from college.
Indeed the week preceding college i did 43 hours, but only coz we were down a staff member.
    Overtime FTW!

A part-time employee in Ireland is defined as "an employee whose normal hours of work are less than the normal hours of work of an employee who is a comparable employee in relation to him or her". A comparable employee means a full-time employee.

So basically, you do less hours than a full-time employee in your office.
