Re designed MacBook / Pro

    Alright Lads,

I will be getting a New Macbook in the forseeable future, now i know that the WWDC is in June this year and i have heard some rumours that they will be announcing a re design (Physically) of the Macbook / Pro range of laptops.

I was wondering if anyone would agree with the above or have any opinion either way. I know there is a processor upgrade and the likes planned but does anyone know of anything else.

Should i just get one now or take the "dreaded" wait and see approach.

Also if there is a re design, is it worth being a version 1.0 adopter or waiting for a few revisions?

    Cheers

There seems to be a processor upgrade every few months anyway. Having worked in Apple Tech Support a few years ago, I certainly wouldn't buy first revision of anything.

Apple seem to be following Intel's processor roadmap so for a good while there will be refreshes of processors etc. As for a redesign, I'd imagine very few people know actual details. There might be a redesign, there might not be. I know I expected a redesign in January and there was none. If you want one buy one.

I would say definitely hold off buying one, usually I'm the complete opposite but you you'll be kicking yourself when Apple release the first re-designed MacBook Pro's and updated specs, shops in US and here (I think) have already been reducing prices on the current models.

A rumour has popped up on a few websites that we're gonna see an update to both Macbooks and Macbook Pros, with both getting a new alluminium/stainless steel casing, and big fat trackpads like the macbook air. I remember at the time of the last update (just a month or so ago), that they were only updating to help Intel shift stock of their already superceded processor.

Of course, there's also rumours of revamped Mac Minis and iMacs inbound, so I'm gonna sve my pennies. If nothing is announced by WWDC, I'll bite the bullet and buy.

It says the MBP will not change much, only some black here and there. The real change will be for the Macbooks. They're getting the alluminum material that the pro already has.

the apple way? more like modern technology way.

as soon as you buy anything computerish it goes down in value
as soon as you buy anything motorish it goes down in value
i could go on but ya get the point...

True, but aluminium MacBooks would be something fairly major - I could cope with the first Core 2 Duo MacBook and 5.5G (better battery life) iPod appearing a few weeks after I bought my Core Duo and 5G because, well, they did everything I wanted. But I would love an aluminium MacBook (call me shallow). I'll hang on to this until maybe the first revision of the new model and then sell sell sell :D

Faster, 64-bit processor plus Leopard will make it worth the difference in price methinks.

yeh no doubt, i'd probably do the same.

aluminium casing for macbooks would be great, it would keep them cooler as well as they do tend to run a tad hot.

    Yeah that is true.....

I could never understand peoples need to wait for the next mac this mac that, just buy the bloody thing...

I did buy my mate a ipod in the states the day before they released the touch version... I was wondering why the apple store guy was like, are you sure you want it!!! Ah well. :D
