Some games are region free, but not all. Play Asia have a region free section, as I'm sure other import sites have too.

As far as I know its up to the game makers to make the games multi region or not.

Theres probaly a forum somewhere if you google search it that lists the games that are multi region

To answer your post title - No. but i'll come back to that.

Yes you can get games from the US and Asia (Or anywhere) that will play on your Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 itself isn't region protected but has a set region.

Where the region protection comes in is on the discs.

MS basically leave it to publishers to region protect the games. So for example:

EA region protect their games. US Madden / Rock Band are NTSC and only play on NTSC machines, UK (European English) Madden / Rock Band are PAL and only play on PAL machines.

Activision however are unlike EA and you can play US COD4 / Spiderman that are NTSC on PAL machines and likewise UK (European English) COD4 / Spiderman on NTSC machines.

PAL and NTSC are the two most common regions (there old standards at this stage and generally most electronics are multistandard now) which don't go hand in hand. But they do still have a big factor in the way the disc and box are compatible because not everybody has new tech in their living room for playing xbox on!

What you should do is find the games that are region free, so you know what you can and can't buy from out of europe. The best (and often cheapest) site to find this out and ultimatly buy from is www.play-asia.com.

If you look under Xbox 360 and Region Free games you'll see Green tick marks in the description for where the game is region free.
