Generally, your only option for combined TV & Broadband in Ireland is with NTL via cable.

There are some developments that have Smart Telecom's or Magnet's FTTH (fibre to the home) that offer combined services as well

Don't think its possible to get HBO in Ireland or even Europe, but I can be corrected on this.

For TV you are stuck with Cable, Satellite, FTTH or Terristial.

The best value is Satellite and Metro. (Option of free TV channels only and no phone line rental for phone calls).
If you have UPC cable already for TV (or not allowed a dish and there is cable), then you can get phone and Broadband too and save on eircom line rental.

Analogue cable is MUCH poorer than decent terrestrial Analogue Aerial or FTA Satellite. UPC Digital is a little poorer quality than Sky Digital Pay TV.

Smart & Magnet TV services are poorer than UPC and very limited in both multiroom and geographic availability as they are IPTV based.

There is NO compelling reason to get your TV & Broadband and especially TV, Broadband & phone all from one supplier. "Triple play" is a Cable Operator Marketing ploy. "Quad play" is particularly pointless as Mobile uses a separate infrastructure.

It's like believing you should pick ONE supermarket and buy EVERY product from them (Tesco whould have you believe this and can nearly offer it). OTH it can be more advantagous to buy fresh veg in market, meat from butcher, household/clothes in Heitons, some items in Tesco / Lidl / Dunnes (vary by week which you go to and stock up items not in cheaper shop), gadgets in Maplins... other things via Online etc etc.
