When i bought a car over there i had to file a certificate of ownership with the state motor vehicle bureau. You get these papers from whoever you buy the car off. Since you are talking about a RV it will most likely be a dealership. They should be able to handle that there. You have to pay a reg fee and any state sales tax.

Insurance works kinda the same way as over here except the person is insured rather than the car. it is also difficult to get insured without a permanent address in the US. And if you do find a company to insure you it will be much more expensive as they can't look at your past driving record. When i moved over there i hadn't a US address straight away but i went to buy a car 2 days later. I couldn't find a company who would insure me until i moved into a place. Then when i did move into a place i found it difficult to get insured without a drivers license for California even though i had a full Irish one. It took me nearly 4 weeks before my car was road worthy.

Also make sure there is an emission test cert on the window as some states require a car to have passed that test to be allowed to drive in the state.

You check out www.dmv.org which will explain different state insurances laws. It differs state to state.
