Good brekkie/brunch?

    Hey guys,

I'm in Dubland tomorrow for interviews and I'm meeting a mate for breakfast or brunch (depending on the time). Even though I lived in Dublin for two years (and plan on returning) and I don't often go for breakfast/brunch, any time I did partake of same in the capital, I was never that impressed. So, can you guys suggest somewhere gorgeously fabulous in the city centre?

Now we're not food snobs/pretentious types but we wouldn't be fans of greasy spoon type fare - moreso them "posh" breakfasts that have stuff like poached eggs and French toast.

My mate's a fellow Corkonian and has even less of a clue than I have.

    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers :)

If around camden st I'd recommend a little place on montague lane, take a left at eddie rockets, gosh I was impressed by the home cooked stuff they were dishing up last time I was there, even though I was only getting a takeaway coffee. Can't remember the name,it's on the left 3 or 4 places down.

Ah yes, good spot. I know it well from my Phibsborough days. No, I'll be further south. I'm talking anywhere between the Four Courts and Stephen's Green (I know, quite a stretch!)

Don't know Montague Lane. Where is it in relation to the big Spar on Camden Street? (On the left if you're coming up from Georges Street).

Turn left directly before the big spar as you come up Camden St, small post office and cr'ppy looking casino on it.

There are two places there Cafe Bliss - bit more upmarket, bit less greasy spoon & Gerry's which is a classic greasy spoon. Gerry's for a hangover - Cafe Bliss for a slightly more upmarket brunch.

Doesn't Elephants and Castle do stuff like French Toast?

I have no idea where that is, but I hear its alright.

Looks the business alright, never been in it. Although it could be hard getting a seat always seems quite full.

Guys, thanks a mil for all the tips. Ended up being 40 minutes early for my interview (not intentionally - that's just the amount of distrust I have for Dublin traffic) so just went on my own to a place nearby (Merchants Quay). It wasn't fancy but pretty damn nice.
