    Is anyone else following this on TV3? I got interested because one of the contestants, Carly Smithson, was Irish. And I have to say, without being biased, she is definetly the best singer there, imo.
    I think she did a brilliant version of 'Crazy On You' by Heart:


    She's in the top 8 and I think she deserves to win.
    Anyone else agree?

    I wish TV3 showed them a bit earlier in the week though. They used to show one series of it on a Thursday night few years ago.

    It's kinda spoiled by papers revealing that she has got through the day after America screen it.

    Carly definitely has the best voice, but a lot of people in America are influenced by her connection with Randy a few years ago and as a result wont vote for her. That's why she's been in the bottom three I'd say.

    Anyway, this week it's the charity special. Watch out for Teri Hatcher butchering some song!

    what connectio n with randy.. the papers reckon she will be next to be booted & even simon does aswell. hopefully she does well

    When she had her multi-million dollar record deal a few years ago (which was a complete disaster, she only sold a few hundred albums) Randy was working at the same company.

    They say that 7 out of the remaining 8 are 'plants' of some sort, but I don't know the details.

    I'd say Carly's days are numbered anyway.

    Edit: I said above that no one goes home this week but I've just read that some one does tonight. I'm confused now!

    Yeah, I'd heard about her connections with Randy Jackson, and there are a lot of people who think she shouldn't be there because she was a "professional". But I think she would have been voted off by now if that's all that America were basing their votes on. I think she's won them over and if she goes at some point in the future, it'll probably be because she had a "bad night

    I think the controversy has died down a little. Besides, it came out that Carly wasn't the only contestant with a record deal before: both Michael Johns and Kristy Lee Cook were once signed to labels too. Cook released an album aswell,apparently.
