You can't ask or post about roms & copyright material here ... it's in the charter.

There are some posters here with the GP2X ... it's a great machine, and supports many emulators for many of the classic 8bit and 16bit home computers and consoles at full speed with no frameskip. It even supports a fairly recent version of MAME, with many somewhat recent arcade games running at full speed. Most of the emulators are ports of well-known PC/Mac or even Linux based emulators.

There is a great community/site with freeware games, demos and homebrew software, including many emulators (but no roms) ... linkeh -> http://www.gp32x.com

If you are at all familiar with emulation and have played around with the more common platforms, you won't have any trouble with the GP2X ... and the forum link above is a good source of support.

i have ran most of the emulators before. So it doent have to be a particular type of emulator. Do i just copy the unzipped program and paste it driectly onto the SD card ?
Also I have an amiga emulator running on my machine would it be just a matter of pasting it to the SD
    Cheers

You will need GP2X versions of the emulators you are interested in.

These usually have installation instructions - generally, you just unzip them to the SD card, and all required directories etc, are created.

You can connect directly on the GP2X with the USB cable ... other people (like me) prefer to work through a card reader.

The only real difference is in control of the emulators ... as you don't have a full keyboard on the GP2X, the most important keys are mapped to the control pads, and some of the emulators have on-screen virtual keyboards.

Trust me ... these have been around for some time, and they are simple to install and configure. Some of the more demanding emulators/games can be a little difficult to 'tune' and overclock ... so stay away from that until you are quite comfortable with the basics.

    Enjoy :)

If you bought the card with the GP2X, I'd be surprised if it wasn't compatible.

I do remember reading about some issues with larger XD cards, but I think they were 4 Gb.

Have you installed the GP2X software, and tried to connect to the card ? What exactly happens ??
Did you format or prepare the card in any way ? What format did you choose ?
Did you follow the instructions for creating the required directories from the root of the card ?

It should be straightforward enough ... I'd imagine you've missed a small but important step in prepping the card.
Have another read over the instructions, and let us know how you get on.

    FAT32 is correct.

There's a user guide here -> http://www.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,1,0,0,23,933 that you will find very helpful.
It's 40 odd pages, but well worth a read. It's a PDF, so you'll need a PDF viewer.

It walks you through prepping the card, downloading a freeware, open source game, and installing it.

Download the user guide, and see if that helps. Stick with it ... it will all be worth it :)
