Anyone watch this on Monday night on Virgin 1? Has potential but I can't really see it getting past 1 season.

There's a US paced thread about. Loads of fans here on boards.

I'm definitely one. The most fun I've had watching TV this year. Its been renewed for a second series, which will start in september.

US ratings have been decent enough

I take it there's a marked improvement after the pilot? I enjoyed the pilot but there was something missing.

The something more that is missing is identified easily enough. Its not enough screen time for sarah, and yes, that is improved after the pilot :p

But seriously, it stops being a bunch of quirky events happening to this poor nerd and starts being an interesting, well developed story with evolving characters.

As above the charachter development is pretty good. I prefer the sister to sarah myself, but I'd happily accept either ;)

I wasn't expecting much from this since the plot has been done to death, but I really enjoyed the pilot. It's already series linked on my sky plus.

Its one of those shows that gets better the more you watch it. One of my favourites of the new season, and it has been approved for renewal.... season 2 starts in the autumn.

I watched the pilot on monday and really liked it, I had seen one episode while in the US over christmas - very good parody of the Best Buy Geek Squad. Looking forward to the story developing in weeks to come; great concept for a show.

    Seconded!

That combined with his proposed remake of 'Spaced'!

He's the Uwe Boll of the TV world.

He is exec producer on Supernatural, and thats a great great show.

Who gives a f**k about Charlies Angels anyway? The original show was sh*t, so he didn't have a great canvas to work with.

    </rant> :)

Chuck is a pretty cool TV show. Can't wait for the second season.

    Also Sarah > sister.

Caught the pilot on Virgin1. Can't believe this slipped through the net when I was doing my monthly trawling for new shows.

Seems very enjoyable, looking forward to more.

Starting on TV3 on Sat at 6pm too. Might give it a look.

Caught it a couple of times on Virgin by accident. Was kinda disappointed with it to be honest because it was hyped up quite a bit during the writer's strike. Was just alright but not something I'd feel compelled to watch over and over. Maybe I should give it another chance.

Thats a much fairer time than most of RTEs imported shows, but I really do think it could stand to be on later than that. Guess I should be glad its being shown on terrestrial TV at all.......

Catching gmpses of it wouldn't be doing it justice. There are loats of self referential jokes and sticking with it definitely pays dividends.

Have TV3 dumped Chuck? It's not scheduled for the next few weeks. Bit strange only putting it on for two episodes.

Maybe it didn't do well in the ratings - TV3 now have a habit of dropping shows which don't perform quickly - Paradise Hotel and Bionic Woman were shunted to late night slots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Well thats because Paradise hotel is shite and Bionic Woman was cancelled.
There is no excuse for Chuck - its a brilliant show.

I reckon what happened there is eh... TV3 are absolute muppets!
