    thanks, aoife

i think it is "sonyunseenirelan@ogilvy.ie" but i don't have a paper here to check.

think the closing date is coming up soon too, or maybe even past.

I remember the date being this friday so it's quite a last minute entry.

thanks for that, i'll try it

anyone got the details on this?? I missed it completely.. What is the theme? Just unseen images from Ireland or is there a brief?
Anyone sure of the closing date or email?

The right email address for the competition is: sonyunseenireland@ogilvy.com
The closing date is April 11th.

Anyone know anymore details? Such as how many photos can enter? Or more specific details of theme??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 potato

unseen ireland is the theme....so take it whatever way you want.

    deadline tomorrow,

    email in posts above

Is it just one photo you email, or is it a set

Also, anyone any idea of the size files required??

They don't spec the details at all

I asked them about the details before but I got back this from them

"You can enter as many photos as you like and the closing date is April 4 and
you must be an amateur photographer. Those are the only rules."

But from reading the paper it is this Friday.
So post off a few of your photo's at the max resolution, I sent off 4 pics, in total about 4 meg in size, and I was a winner last week, the fox photo :)

    How often are these run?

i think this one has been going for the last 4-5 weeks, there wasn't must publicity about it, you had to more or less read the paper to spot it and I couldn't find anything on the web about it.

Congrats :) But I'm confused. If this one is running for 4 or 5 weeks how can there be a "last week" winner. And was it published in print or on the web. I just bumped off two to the above address not really knowing what I am doing or what I'm entering.

if it's the same one I am thinking of, then it's in the Irish Independant magazine on Saturday. There are weekly winners who win a camera pahone and then an overall winner who wins a Sony A700 SLR

    Ah! Ok thanks :)

Well unless nature is the category this week I'm going to look really silly :pac:

I don't think it's category-based. It just seems to be snapshots, probably supposed to be faintly amusing maybe, but just random snaps...

Any idea when the winner is announced or even where?? Maybe Irish indo next saturday??

I'm pretty sure thats a different one,
the unseen ireland one is in the times,
with the camera phone one in the indo, there are themes each week, but fairly broad

I have the news paper from last week so I from that each "winner" gets a prize of a Sony Cyber Shot T200, the overall winner (using all the pictures published) can win a Sony Alpha 700 DSLR and a VIP trip to Cannes for the world photography on the 24th of April.

So I take it that if your in the paper you get a Cybershot, then they review all of the published photos and decides who gets the DSLR and the VIP trip to cannes. Thats my understanding.

It's very badly run. I won one of the weeks and they never even contacted me ( this shot http://www.flickr.com/photos/conmike12/359382177/sizes/o/in/set-72157594285115266/ ) . I only knew I'd won because someone else saw my photo in the paper and told me. I mailed them again but they still haven't sent me out my camera. Perhaps I'll get it when the comp is finally over... who knows!!

that was an amazing photo, well done

I agree from the contacting who's won to advertising the competition is a bit poor, and whoever wins the big prize would have very little time to prepare to go to Cannes, i.e. work/babysitters etc. , and the festival is on the 24th, that's Thursday week !

Bought the paper yesterday. It's the unseen competition actually. Very difficult to find. Bottom of page 5 in the supplement.

Anybody know the results of this, or when they are out?

final winner is to be announced this saturday. in theory...no runners up.

one overall winner will be selected from all the winners in the previous weekly comps up to last saturday.
sony a700 (cool) and a trip to Cannes.

yup, it doesn't seem to be very well advertised or supported.
I got a mail 6 weeks ago congratulating me and saying my prize (sony T200) would be sent "soon"
nothing since, and no contact mail to ask questions.
