Just wondering if we're mad going for a week in August....everyone keeps telling me it's going to be too hot, but I do love the the heat and I used to live in Romania and the summers there are killer so if I could cope with that it shouldn't be too bad right?

I wouldnt go in August. I went in October and it was 35 every day and not a whole lot below at night time.
I dont think it would be as enjoyable in August. Do you Have to go then? If not, id hope for a nice irish summer and go to egypt when it gets cold here :) best of both worlds.

I went in March and it was roasting. I wouldn't go near it in the summer.

    Can you wait til October?

I went at the end of June and it was hitting the high 40's.

I was also there in June and it was the high 40's. If you're used to the heat it might not be that bad if you are planning on lazing by the pool or going diving etc as you'll be dipping in the water all the time. All hotels have A/C so it isn't difficult to sleep. If you were planning on doing lots of trips and sightseeing then I'd hold off until a cooler period as it's hard to get the energy up to do anything in that heat!

thanks for all the advice guys. I really appreciate it. I am pretty used to the heat as I lived in Romania for years and the summers there are roasting so I think we'll go for it.

The average high in Romania in August is about 29C, in Luxor the average high is 41C. Put it this way, Romanian summers are more similar to Ireland than to Egypt. Yes you can cope with it, but you are paying good money to go there.

If you are not planning on much sight seeing it would be alright. But with alot of the sights; valley of the kings pyarmids etc,, there is alot of walking involved and very little shade to be had anywhere.

ive been to egypt twice! first year in august and second in july! both times were equally hot! but i love the sun so didnt find it too bad! its more draining than anything! like in the evening you'd get quite tired because of the heat!
