    hi all,

afraid i'm going to have to get a reconditioned gearbox for my car, gutted to have to do it but **** happens and there isn't much i can do about it.

not to ramble on but has anyone here ever bought a recon box?

what is the quality like? do the last?

i know the quality will vary depending on who did the recon job and i'm considering using a crowd in nass that do this even thought i live in cork but can't seem to find a service like it down here.

id imagine as good as new, provided your casing is in good nick

As they are usually done locally, it will really depend on the mechanic doing the reconditioning and the quality of the parts used. Most reconditioned boxes will come with some sort of guarantee so be sure to get one.
