Hi! I'm going to Asia for a 3 weeks in Aug. I wanna go to Malaysia for a few days (prob bout 3 nights). I don't know anything about cities/places to avoid or not avoid for that matter:confused:!

Can anyone give me some tips on where to go/stay and what to see/do?

    Thanx:p

I'm actually heading there myself in 2 weeks. Can't wait!

I did a lot of research before making an itinerary but there really is so much to see and do that it was hard to pack it in in three weeks.

I'm flying to Singapore, spending two days there, then going to Melaka for three days, then a few days in Kuala Lumpur, then flying to malaysian Borneo for a few days, then back to Singapore for my onwards journey.

I obviously can't tell you too much, as I haven't been yet so would love to here some more opinions.

What kind of things are you looking to do? There's loads. 3 days isn't really a long time. I suppose you'd want to keep it in peninsular Malaysia and not Borneo?

Malaysia is an amazing country - with only 3 days though, I'd recommend KL, it's a great city with great shopping and food. You could get a bus up to the Cameron highlands either where all the tea plantations are, really gorgeous area. I think it was only 4 or 5 hours on a (very comfortable) bus ......

For only 3 days I wouldn't go too far from KL, as in don't try and include Malaysian Borneo for this trip.
Cameron highlands are also a good recomendation. I have a Malaysian friend so we visited the tiny village he came from, which was amazing.
I have the name of a good hotel in KL, just cant think of it at the min. Don't know how much u intend spending though. I'll try and post it up later.

How are you arriving in KL?? Flying?? If you're coming from Singapore you can take a luxury (& it is real luxury!!!) coach to KL in about 5 hrs. Or coming from Thailand you can go by train.

I worked there for a while, if you want a great hotel in the centre of KL, stay and the mandarin oriental, if is cheap compared to Irish prices and the service is top class. Also as a tip, the hotel normally asks you if you want to upgrade to the executive class. do it! you get free access to the business lounge, which means free drinks/snacks/internet and also the will dry clean five items of clothes every day, better stiil and upgrade costs about €12 for your stay! The room upgrade is good also, as you normally get a view of the entire city / twin towers.

it is located right next door to the Petronas towers, where I used to work on the 83 rd floor.

It is worth a visit to these buildings and make sure you walk across the bridge between the two towers, located on the 42 floor.

you will enjoy the city, especially the markets and the food!! lets us know how you get on! Enjoy
