    Just moved into a house in St Anthonys Terrace. There are a few things we need to get.

    1. Bins - whos cheapest and available. I checked out city bins because they dont charge for weight but their site says they dont service our estate. Council bins charge for weight, we prob wouldnt have too much weight in the bins but the charge can add up. Also, anyone who does have the council bins, what is your regular charge for weight and how full would the bin be at this charge?

    2. Oil - The tanks pretty close to empty. Any number to be ringing that provide a good service at a good rate? Also, how much oil would a student house use for a years lease? I dont want to be getting twice as much as I need and leaving it behind with us out of pocket!

    3. NTL - All I want in Some basic TV and broadband. Any deals available?

    If you're renting the Bins should've been provided ?

    We are renting, but there aint no bins. We're renting through a leasing agency. The contract mentioned how to organise rubbish into the different bins but we are responsible for managing the rubbish. Getting bins might fall under "managing rubbish".

    Why do you say bins should be provided? Out of curtesy or by law?

    What Estate are you in?

    St Anthonys Terrace. City bins have the option to choose their service, but its only there as part of a survey. My guess is if enough people request it, they might look into bringing their service there.

    Not necessarily, it seems to depend on the lease.

    I've changed oil company THREE times in the last 5 years, I've settled with Corrib Oil because they are reliable/punctual. When you ring up any oil company, the first question that you should always ask is :

    "How much per litre?"

    They will give you the best rate before you utter another sentence.

    Exactly, found out last night. Its up to us to sort them out.
    Are the council bins my only option?

    Ill do that now. Just have to find out, kerosene or diesel. I have my buddy investigating now. Ive heard Corrib oil are good. My landlord was wondering would we have oil by 13:00 today... we said we would try but itd be hard to get it that quick. And no-ones home until about 5.30 so I dono about payment.

    Kerosene

    I use Excelsior for my oil. 751015 (I think!!!). Reliable service, and if you don't know what oil you need, they'll check.

    We're not too flush with cash at the moment though. Just started working and paid the rent and a months rent deposit so we're a bit broke at the mo. I rang around asking for a price per litre on 200 -> 250 euro worth of kerosene. Best I got was statoil (sweeney oil), 311Ltrs for 250. Their delivering tomorrow.

    Now, any suggestions on bins? We're thinking of just using the bags you get in the shop for bins. Do the council just pick them up if you leave them out on bin day?

    Anyone ever used this service?

    If you:
    * Have just moved into your house and want to order bins
    * Have just moved into your house and want to transfer your bins
    * Have a damaged bin
    * Have lost a bin
    then you should contact the Environment Section by phoning 091 536595
    Householders should note that there maybe a charge of €25 for bin replacement.

    You can buy bags from Walsh Waste, which you leave out and they collect. You'll have to ring them for more details I'm afraid.

    I'm not sure that bags vs bins is that simple: I think that operators only do one sort or the other in each area - ie, if they can do bins, they do, but if bins are impossible (narrow streets, apartments with no street access), bags are used instead.

    The council website doesn't mention bags at all. But they do them ... 60-euros for 15 regular + 15 recycling.

    I'm pretty sure your guess re Walsh having to service the area is correct too. There's also Barna Waste. Don't know what areas they do though.
