Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know where I could purchase a 14 foot curtain pole? I've tried lots of places and nowhere seems to stock it. its mostly 12foot is the longest. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Somewhere in Dublin only please. thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to buy two 8 foot, one piece poles and join them. You should go for at least 50mm diameter as anything less is likely to sag. The other option I'd recomend is an aluminium track, these are available, in a choice of colours, up to 20 foot.

Your best bet is a metal pole. I know Harry Corry used to do one in 14 ft. You wont find wooden in over 6ft in each piece.

I'd tend to agree with the idea of aluminium track/rail.
A pair of curtains to fit a window that wide are likely to be quite heavy, and as you can only use a max. of 3 brackets on a curtain pole, you may not be able to get a good enough fixings on the wall capable of holding all that weight.
You can use any number of brackets on a rail which should give you plenty of support.

Would depend on the curtain type though. Tabs, Rings, or tapes OP?

Yes you will. But only in larger diameters. Visit a specialist curtain shop rather than one of those supermarket style curtain shops.

Worked in Harry Corrys for 4 years and never stocked one. That said, We never did wooden poles over 42mm.

My guess is that twostroke was referring to harry corrys as a "supermarket style curtain shops". 50mm and 63mm wooden poles are available from an Irish wholesaler up to 4.8 meters, maybe longer. There is a minimum economical order quantity so your best bet is to visit a curtain shop that provides a professional fitting service. Track would be a cheaper option if money is an issue.
Regarding "curtain type Tabs, Rings, or tapes" Don't order curtains until you know what you're hanging from.

Hi thanks for your replies. I don't want to get tracks as i don't like the look of them really and the curtain poles are just for the curtains to hang down either side of the window. I won't be pulling them across or anything as its for a top floor apartment window so privacy isn't an issue. I'll see how I get on trying to find two that I can maybe put together or something. Thanks again.

If its only to hang down either side just buy 2 35mm 8ft poles and cut them to size.
